Example of my work before completion

An example of my work before it is finished to show my initial ideas of what the magazine will look like to some extent. I think I will change the colour of the masthead to make it clearer and add to my house style ideas in order to create my final piece to the best of my ability.

Posed Shot

This is an example of a posed shot which would be good for a magazine cover because the whole body is shown and I could blend the picture in to the other conventions of my magazine and it would look more professional that a picture that has been cut off.

Close-up example (Bad Framing)

This is an example of a close-up shot with bad framing, I think that this wouldn't be particularly brilliant for a magazine front cover because again the picture would be cut off which wouldn't blend in well with the rest of my magazine and would look unprofessional.

Medium Close-up Example

This is a medium close up shot, I don't particularly think that this shot would be a good example for a front cover because we can only see part of the person, and it would be cut off so wouldn't blend in particularly well.

Two shot example

This is an example of a two shot which could be used on a magazine and features two people, hence the name two shot and would be good if I were to feature a duo artist/band.

Group shot example

This is an example of a group shot which I may use on my magazine, there are more than two people in this shot which makes it a group shot.

house style ideas

I will use two main colours in order to create a house style for my magazine. I have created this to show some possible colours that I could use, however some colours may be more suitable for my particular genre than others. I think in order to reinforce my genre I think the most suitable colours to use would involve black because it connotes death and darkness and maybe red also because it connotes danger but also passion and I believe that the music involved creates passion for the genre.

1st Draft Double Page Spread

This is my first draft for my double page spread I have given space for the main story title to make sure that the reader knows which story it is and is attracted to the headline. Again I have given space for a quote from the text to allow the reader to understand the importance of the specific quote given.
Main stories generally have a lot of writing to go with them to allow a reader a larger understanding of the story and what it means. I have left space for some small images as well however I think in future drafting I will space the smaller images out a bit more because they may look slightly crammed in the bottom corner.

1st Draft Contents Page

This is my basic plan of a contents page, I will include more images on here than on the front cover because I think that if a front page has lots of pictures on it deters people from the sell lines because they are so focused on the images and also it looks unprofessional and crammed. The layout will be fairly neat, however will still give the impression of a kind of careless attitude to reinforce the genre. I have also included space for a quote of some sort, probably from the main story on the front cover to reintroduce the main story and allow it all to link together.
I have also included space for an advertisement which links with institution because the magazine will be paid, price variable depending on popularity, for putting an advertisement in their magazine, especially on the contents page.

1st Draft Front Cover

I have used the generic conventions for the cover of my magazine because that way customers know where to look for each convention, such as the masthead, which is in the top central area which is where people generally look for the masthead. I used an old gothic style font to create the idea that rock may be slightly more old fashioned in the sense that many people see rock as 'rock and roll' which is generally more 70's and 80's than now, but also to state that rock may be slightly old but it's still around and will be around for a long while.
I simply searched in google band sketch to find the picture that I copied just to get a slight idea of where my main image will be and to show how the magazine will look when it is complete and has all of the conventions involved.
I used a plug to advertise a competition to entice customers further to purchase the magazine. This is another particular convention of a magazine that people may look for when planning to purchase a magazine.

Contents page L.I.I.A.R Analysis

Contents page:
Language-
The purpose of a contents page is to tell the reader what is going to be in this issue of the magazine. The colours all compliment each other and the pictures used all show what the magazine is about. The magazine is aimed at drummers because it issues things about famous drummers and how to reach the standards that people could be at. The layout is fairly neat and tidy which contrasts with the genre and purpose of the magazine. The headline is still on the contents page which is a convention of a music magazine.

Ideology- The attitude of the magazine would be fairly rock style and careless, however this is not reflected in the layout of the contents page because the contents page gives a fairly neat approach. It keeps up to date with modern trends because lots of people have started drumming recently due to the increase in popularity of rock music as a whole. The beliefs would be that the magazine would attract people to begin drumming and maybe help drummers improve.

Institution- Establishing a brand name is an obvious source of profitability because customers develop a reliability and trust to these brands. Another source of profitability would be to add plugs to the magazine as a whole because people like to see competitions and free things to do when they buy a magazine. The contents page could also include a phone number for a drum school or something also because this would attract drummers.

Audience- The audience of this magazine would be drummers, obviously and maybe people who are interested in drummers. Famous drummers could be featured on the contents page, people such as Travis Barker (Drummer from Blink-182) which could then add a few things about band drummers which would introduce bands which would maybe attract more people.

Representation- The colours are representational of the rock genre which is the particular genre that drummers belong to. The positioning of the pictures and the writing on the page is fairly neat which contrasts with the genre of the magazine itself. The white background makes the pictures stand out because they have a dark colouring to them so the colours contrast in an effective way to compliment each other and make each other prominent on the page.

Target Audience

This powerpoint slide explains who my target audience is and how I will entice them to buy my magazine. I have explained the actions I will take to entice these customers and the conventions of other magazines which I will take into account to improve my own.

L.I.I.A.R Analysis Front Cover NME

Language- The content of this magazine is quite obvious in that the main image is clear and the headline is also clear and overlaps the main image so is the first point of eye contact. The colours, just like Kerrang, are red which connotes danger and black which connotes death which both reflect the rock genre well. Also there is a tear design down the centre of the magazine and also the word 'WAR' accompanies the connotations of the colours used. NME as a magazine usually appeals to Indie rock fans, however this issue expands further because My Chemical Romance and Panic! At The Disco, are pop punk bands so this issue would appeal to further than just Indie Rock fans. The models are placed on opposite sides of the magazine so this reinforces the headline 'War on Emo' this would also attract customers because everyone loves an argument in the press, it is a main story for people to be intrigued in. The models are not looking at the camera so the desire for customers to be drawn in by eye contact is not there but this is reinforced by the headline.

Ideology- The attitude again is quite careless and unorganised which attracts the correct target market for this genre. It keeps up to date with modern trends because the clothes that the front men are wearing are trendy and would appeal to the target audience of the average age of an NME magazine reader which is 25 years old. Also these clothes could be what the audience want to wear or find attractive on a person. 70% of NME readers are male so they could want to look and dress like the front men, on this particular front cover. This magazine would appeal to probably more working class people than anyone else as there are two cluster groups which are: Young Socialites who go to gigs and live events and First Time Earners who still go to gigs because music is a vital part of their lives.

Institution- NME is a well known, established brand which is an obvious source of profitability, however in order to reach the target market of the target audience, they would need to promote the magazine to ensure that people see it. According to the NME Reader Profile the NME readers' favourite TV Channel is Channel 4, their favourite newspaper is The Guardian and 95% have access to the internet. Therefore advertising in these places would be a good source of profitability because the target audience would see the advertisements and would then go out and buy the magazine.

Audience- The average age of NME readers is 25, 70% of readers are male and the other 30% are female. This would give the magazine editor an idea of how they should advertise/market the product in a way that would appeal to the target audience in order to enhance profitability. The design is quite similar to that of Kerrang which is a kind of clustered design which reflects the personalities and genre of the bands/artists and the magazine itself.

Representation- The colours again connote danger and death and the word 'War' accompanies these colours well because danger and death both belong to the semantic field of war. This confirms that the magazine is quite well thought about because the language of the cover show similar connotations to one another. Both front men are wearing black which is a typical gothic colour to reflect what the readers would wear. Also when someone sees a sub heading such as 'Whose side are you on?' It makes them want to read about what it's actually about and what is happening. Both front men have their arms in the air as if they are protesting or something. This could entice the target audience because they want to hear both sides of the story.

L.I.I.A.R-Kerrang

Language- The content of the magazine includes cell lines to tell the audience the stories that will be inside of the magazine which may entice them to buy the magazine. The genre of the magazine is rock, this is shown by the common use of the colour black which connotes a rock theme, the colour red which connotes danger and the colour white to contrast against these two colours to make it stand out. The font of the masthead is a particular convention of this magazine as it is the same on each issue, and the font itself gives the effect of shattered/smashed writing. The main image takes up most of the page and even overlaps the masthead a little bit. However the cell lines overlap the main image to make them more clearly visible to the reader. The layout is a similar convention to many magazines of this genre with a skyline and a footer, a main central image and cell lines on one or either sides of the main image. The models seem to be looking directly at the camera but it's difficult to see because the majority of them are wearing sunglasses. Looking directly at the camera makes the reader feel like they're looking at them which directly entices them.

Ideology- The attitude of the magazine is generally perceived as careless and fun, the main image usually gives the impression that the various bands and artists are having a good time because they're smiling and laughing, as shown above. This magazine keeps up to date with modern trends because people who read this magazine are usually attracted to it because of the band/artist featured on the front cover, for instance, people wouldn't buy this magazine if a picture of Justin Bieber was featured on the front because it wouldn't connote the same message as usual and the conventions of the magazine would have been breached.

Institution- The company is clearly Kerrang, which is a well known, established brand. The fact that this brand is so well known would be an obvious source of profitability. The advertisement of this product would also be a key area to enhance sales, in order to appeal to the correct target market the company would have to advertise on television, radio and through social networking sites because these methods of advertisement all contribute to the daily events that this target market undertake. Advertising in the newspaper would attract few customers because not many people of this target audience read newspapers.

Audience- The product is targeted at people who are interested in this genre of music mainly teenagers and early 20's, maybe some older or younger but not as common in these age groups. The models on this particular cover may entice boys who like them or want to be like them or girls who like the music or like the look of this band. The design is quite chaotic and possibly clustered but this reflects the genre of the magazine well because the people featured in it may have the same characteristics as the magazine itself. For example, the difference between this magazine and 'Hello!' is that the people featured on it aren't airbrushed to unrealistic perfection, whereas in 'Hello!' the models are all unrealistic and they set false ambitions for readers.

Representation- The colours, as mentioned earlier, reflect the genre of the magazine perfectly, black connotes death, red connotes danger and white contrasts these colours to make it easier to read. The main image shows a front man holding a chain which also reflects the genre of rock well because they are often perceived as almost violent in the way that their music sounds/is played. The black clothing is seen as a rock portrayal because usually people who listen to the music, who would be the specific target market for this magazine, would wear black on one garment of clothing or another. The magazine as a whole entices a customer because the main image is the first point of eye contact and the band are looking at you so makes you feel like you are involved just from looking at it, also the cell lines would entice a customer because the stories featured in one would be relevant and may make people want to read and finally the skyline and the footer which include extras that would entice a customer further.

Prezi

I created this Prezi to present the information, and questions I have asked myself about the particular genre I want to use for my music magazine. I feel this is an effective way of showing information because it engages people.

College Magazine – Evaluation

College Magazine – Evaluation

I have used the generic conventions of a magazine to ensure that readers know where to look for each element of my magazine. For example I have placed the masthead at the top of the magazine centrally and I have made the text larger than that of the sell lines for example. I have done this because the masthead gives the name of the magazine and it is usually the first point of eye contact of any particular magazine. I have used a plug and placed it just under the masthead and just above the cell lines in order to attract my target audience of students and teachers to buy the magazine. I have also used a different contrasting colour for the plug because this is an instant eye catching element. The modal I have used in a medium long shot is dominant on the cover because she is larger than the text which again, would attract people to buy the magazine.
The sell lines I have used are mainly college focused which reinforces the genre of the magazine for example ‘Have you signed up for any extracurricular activities? List inside’ this is college focused and may entice people to take part in any other activities which may enhance their university applications in the future. I also used a direct quote from my model ‘I passed BTEC Sport with no qualifications before I came to Wyke’ which would entice those who may not be so academically gifted but they have other talents such as sport and dance. This directly appeals to all elements of my target audience.
The house style of my magazine is dominantly blue and red, the blue represents the sport department at Wyke because the blue jumpers they are given to represent the college at sports events are effective. The colour red contrasts completely with blue, making the magazine colourful and eye catching, which are both important factors when attempting to sell a magazine. The skyline of my magazine mentions the new building that is being built in November 2013 to expand the college and make it less crammed and more spacious which may attract those who are appealed to more space and possibly smaller classes. The footer on my magazine directly names some trips that people will have the chance to attend such as New York, Naples and South Africa. I have done this because trips entice many people when they are attending school and college, especially places so geographically interesting.
The photo was taken directly outside of the front entrance to Wyke because I feel that this is a direct advertisement of the college instead of the photo being taken somewhere else inside college such as ‘Rose Garden’ which may create the wrong impression of the college or even worse somewhere in town wouldn’t be the best place to have in the background because it is not a direct advertisement of the college.
The masthead of my magazine is ‘Wyke-ly’ I called it this because it shows that the magazine is issued weekly and it also includes the name of the college which is always a good thing when encouraging people to buy the magazine. It gives a direct impression that the magazine is college focused and to narrow it down further to Wyke. The date and price are directly underneath the masthead because this is a particular convention of a magazine. I have priced it at £1.50 because it is a college magazine so has to be affordable for even those who are unemployed because otherwise these people may be deterred from the magazine and the institution wouldn’t make any profit on the magazine. However, if the magazine was monthly a higher price may be an option because £1.50 a week may not seem a lot but it adds up to approximately £6 a month and if it was monthly the charge may be about £3 so a monthly magazine may be slightly more affordable however, the masthead wouldn’t be as effective in that context.
To conclude I think that the masthead is enticing because it fuses the words ‘Wyke’ and ‘weekly’ to create a sense that it is a weekly magazine. I think the cover looks slightly rushed and I feel that I have learned a better understanding of using Photoshop to enhance my magazine image. I think that in the future I may change the house style as well because I think two slightly less harshly contrasting colours could be used in order to entice my target market to a better extent.

My Mag

my magazine...

My Mag contents page

This is a mock up of the contents page for my college magazine. I have kept the masthead the same to help to establish the magazine repeatedly for the reader. i have kept similar conventions to other contents pages that I have researched because everything is where the reader would expect it to be. I have used the same plug as the front cover to emphasise the competition. I used actual Wyke pictures to establish the places and the name of the magazine.

My own examples of shot types...

Over the shoulder shot: Also a cantered angle...
Looking from behind a person at the subject. This particular shot is good for things such as TV Dramas when two people are having a conversation and the subject is the one creating the conversation. The cantered angle is also apparent in this particular shot because the photo is clearly not straight.

Two-shot:

This is a comfortable shot of two people, framed similarly to a mid shot. This would be good in a TV Drama because there are often scenes when two people are needed to be in a shot, such as if someone is having a fight then both people should need to be in the shot to allow the audience to see the action.

Wide shot...also a cantered angle:

The subject is visible but the emphasis is still on placing her in her environment. This is good for a college magazine because the environment is shown clearly as is the subject. This would then entice people to buy the magazine because both the college and at least one student is visible.

Point of view shot:

Shows a view from the subjects perspective which is useful to make the audience feel involved and like they are in the subjects shoes (pardon the pun) which would entice an audience because they like to feel involved.

Weather Shot:

The subject is the weather, usually the sky. Can be used for other purposes. This is useful to set the scene of a particular shot for example if there is a horror scene the weather shot would show a thunder storm rather than a bright sunny sky.

Established Shot

Monday, 30 September 2013

two shot

Two-shot: This shot gives the image of two people, which gives the connotation of two shot. This shot sets a scene, while keeping characters involved which gives the audience more to take in from one scene. For example in this shot, there are two main characters, who look like they're at a black tie themed party, it looks to have a theme of calmness, however the two characters look slightly awkward in themselves.

Even more shot types

Extreme close up- This gives the audience even more detail than just a close up itself because it shows whatever the institution wants you to focus on as an audience. Just as the function of a close up is to engage the audience on the emotion of a specific character, the extreme close up shows the same function.

More examples of shot types

Mid-shot- This shot goes approximately down to the waist and captures actions well. For example in this picture it is clear that the model is playing basketball, because the shot has the basketball in it and also she is wearing a basketball top. However if this shot was a close up then we as the audience wouldn't have any idea what was going on in the picture.

Over the shoulder shot- This shot keeps both characters in focus but engages the audience in the conversation or scene. Makes the audience feel involved.

Examples of Shot Types

Medium close-up- This is an example of a medium close-up, from the shoulders up. This is different from the close-up shot because it includes the shoulders and the neck whereas a close-up involves only the face for example.

Close-up- This is an example of a close-up shot which is clear because the shot is very close to the actresses face and her face dominates the shot completely. The close-up shot engages with emotion well because when the face is the dominant of the shot the emotion is the only thing keeping interest.

L.I.I.A.R

L.I.I.A.R
Language- The theme of the magazine is showing that college is fun because the model is making eye contact with the potential audience and she is smiling. The model is blonde and looks like a cheerleader which entices readers to read the magazine. The model is placed centrally which makes it a first point of contact for the potential reader. The purpose of the magazine is quite obviously to entice the reader to buy the magazine. The message that the magazine connotes is that even the cheerleaders enjoy college even when they're not just cheerleading but also in their lessons as well. The purpose of the magazine would be to show young adults that college can be enjoyable and people want to attend in order for it to be enjoyable and educational for them. The sell lines, for example would show the reader what happens in college that they may be interested in or things that may help them not to get into the wrong crowd. The colour theme is mainly red, which is bright and connotes passion in this context giving the impression that the model is passionate about attending college and would like everyone to have the same view.
Ideology- The attitude of the magazine comes across as a happy and smiley emotion which for many is a direct way of enticing students to go to college and enjoy it while they're there. The belief seems to be again that even cheerleaders can enjoy attending college in their lessons as well as going to cheerleader practice. The models clothing seems to keep up to date with modern trends well because of not only what she's wearing but how comfy she looks in what she's wearing. The model also looks very classy in what she is wearing which is a change from the stereotype of a cheerleader which would also entice people because they wouldn't be judged on what they wear. Another dominant colour is the green in the background which is a neutral colour to add to the casual attitude to college and what people wear and how they act with others.
Institution- The magazine itself is the main institution and uses the model and the sell lines to entice the reader keeping their best interest. 'She's 15 and Pregnant' for example attracts the reader to buy the magazine because that is the sort of story that people, especially teenage girls would want to read, because the gossip is what sells a lot of magazines so the institution has used ideas from elsewhere in order to improve this magazine in a way that would attract the target audience. The sell lines would be the main feature of profitability because the sell lines are usually what sell the magazines for example in another magazine such as 'Closer' the sell lines about celebrities and the gossip about the drama that goes on between them are what sells the magazine because a customer would want to read about this drama and would therefore buy the magazine and if they think the story is good the company may get repeat custom from the audience.
Audience- The product is specifically aimed at teenage girls who preferably go to college. I have come to this conclusion because the sell lines seem to be specifically targeted at teenage girls such as 'Avoid sleeping your way to the top' this seems to be aimed at girls because it is more frowned upon when girls have slept with a number of people than it is with boys. the model herself is young so people included in the target audience may be able to relate to her in some way so they would be attracted to the magazine in general. The design is fairly neat which reinforces the fact that you need to be organised in college in order to be able to revise to get the best grades. However the layout also shows a relaxed manor which is also a key thing to be in college in order to get the grades that someone wants. The model is in a relaxed position as well and the emotion that she is showing also looks very real and calm.
Representation- The colours used on the magazine are fairly neutral and the background is a general background that looks particularly like a field which also indicates the fact the model is maybe a cheerleader. The main story is 'A new kind of balancing act' which also emphasises the cheerleader stereotype. The model is making eye contact with the potential audience which creates an element of involvement with the reader. The positioning of the conventions are expectant as with the other magazine covers that I have analysed. Overall the magazine is a good example of enticing the specific intended target audience because of the positioning and language of the magazine as a whole. Also the way it links effectively with the conventions and the reason the magazine has been published for example the background and the models passion which is assumably cheerleading.

College Magazines

L.I.I.A.R
Language- The theme of the magazine is obviously sport. The content of the magazine is stories such as team reviews. The colours used are mainly black, red, white and blue, this appeals to mainly the male population rather than female. The front cover shows basketball players during the game which would also attract the male population. The models are placed one in front of the other in a medium close-up shot, however the one that is behind the other is slightly larger than the other which creates a depth and different setting. The main heading is '350 Team Reviews' which would entice anyone who is interested in basketball teams and would like to find out whereabouts in the statistics these teams are currently playing at. The background is white which allows the models to stand out more, especially the model in blue because blue and white are completely different and therefore stand out against each other. The models look very serious and very committed to the game that they are playing which gives the audience a clear view on how seriously they take their favourite sport.
Ideology- The attitude shown looks particularly serious and focused on the end result, just as sports people are, focused on being successful and competing to their best ability. This magazine is clearly American because the outfits that the models are wearing show American places and also the cell line that includes team reviews states American teams. Another reason the American prejudgment has been used is because of the word 'Freshmen' which is an American word for first years. The belief of the cover is pretty self explanatory in the way that everything featured is to do with sports, and in particular basketball.
Institution- The main institutions are the college and the magazine itself. The conventions of the magazine aren't completely correct because the barcode would usually be at the opposite side to what it is on this magazine. However the fact that they have used three dominant colours on the cover shows that it is not too colourful that it is not tasteful but is not too bland and boring to deter customers. The headline begins with the words 'Lindy's Sports' of which they are both in a sans serif font, however the change of font becomes apparent in the word 'College' when the font is serif. Young people are more likely to be entices to a sans serif font because it's to the point and easy to read whereas serif fonts are generally quite traditional and are usually used in monthly issues such as 'The Rolling Stones'.
Audience- It is clear that the audience for this magazine is mainly the male population as it is a sports magazine and while there is a large population of girls who also enjoy sport the larger percentage of boys would probably purchase this magazine than girls. Also a sans serif font to being the headline would attract more of a younger audience because it is straight to the point and stands out more, whereas the serif fonts are usually more traditional and used on monthly issues of magazines.
Representation- The colours used are mainly blue, red, white and black which would appeal once again to the male population because they are relatively masculine colours. However some of the colours are neutral which opens up the target audience to both male and female. The main image slightly overlaps the masthead but once again the cell lines slightly overlap the main image. The background is white so makes all of the other features stand out more than what they would if the background was dark. One of the models is wearing blue which makes it completely stand out compared with the background however the other is wearing white but it still seems fairly visible around the edges which makes it stand out more than it should.

L.I.I.A.R Analysis College Magazines

L.I.I.A.R
Language- The content of the magazine is Mike Posner and various stories which would entice readers to buy the magazine. The main image on the page is of Mike Posner himself and is a medium close-up. Mike is placed in the centre of the page and is stood in a relaxed position which gives the reader the idea that he's not completely serious. He is also looking directly at the camera and smiling which gives the reader the impression that they are involved in the magazine and adds a personal aspect. The purpose of the cover is to entice people to buy the magazine. This is done by showing some sell lines that people would want to read such as 'I slept with my professor' this alone would attract an audience of students because they are into such gossip. The main colour is blue which connotes a cool, calm attitude which may give readers the impression that its a calm, smooth genre. Another dominant colour is gold which represents upper class, this is risky because it could deter readers because they don't feel that they are upper class, however this is contrasting with the blue. The vocabulary is fairly simple and consists of names, and short, snappy sell lines to entice the reader.
Ideology- Ideology is present in all media texts and it assesses beliefs, values and expectations of groups of people. The attitude of the magazine is a kind of cheeky attitude and I can tell this because of the facial expressions that Mike Posner is showing, he is expressing a cheeky smile and looks mischievous in a way. He is wearing all black which emphasises his chain that he is wearing around his neck. He looks like he keeps up to date with modern trends which would attract an audience of males who want to keep up to date with trends and females who think he looks attractive. The colours connote both calm and cool in the blue and upper class in the gold, which contrast well so the belief of the magazine would be really good quality that is made available to all the social classes even though gold is a dominant colour.
Institution- The institution includes the college and the magazine itself. The house style is blue and gold which would usually attract the male audience because these colours would usually be associated with the male population. Blue and gold are associated with masculinity and success which is a clever way of attracting people to buy the magazine because everybody no matter who they are would like to be successful. The magazine includes many teasers such as 'Should I Break Up... With My Professor' which is a high frequency story that people don't see everyday. This would therefore entice customers to buy the magazine in order to read the stories inside.
Audience- I think the magazine is targeted mainly at teenagers in general and mainly male teenagers because of the colours used on the front page, however I'm not completely sure that the sell lines would appeal to as many males as it would females. Mainly because women are usually more into the gossip of celebrities than men are, so this magazine would entice both genders in order to reach maximum profitability. The design is quite neat and the sell lines are evenly spaced out and even on each side of the page.
Representation- The colours once again are mainly masculine, however gold is fairly neutral so could appeal to both genders and therefore a larger audience. The fact that the model is making eye contact makes it almost desirable to any specific audience. The main image partially overlaps the masthead which makes it clear that the main image is an important aspect of the cover. However the cell lines partially overlap the main image which bring them forward from the rest of the magazine which draws attention to them as well. The background is a really dark blue which emphasised the cell lines and the masthead because the light blue and gold are a lot lighter than the background. However the main image is also dark so apart from the models skin tone the rest of the image is kept almost camouflaged in the background.

The Brief

Preliminary exercise:

  • using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally you must produce a mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of DTP.

Main Task:

  • the front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine. All images and text used must be original, produced by you - minimum of four images.
